  The primary goal of My Allowance is to help you answer this age-old question. While My Allowance can also be helpful with other questions (such as "How much on average am I actually spending for gas?" or "How long before I'll have saved enough to buy that new toy?"), these are mere perks. My Allowance exists to help you with those everyday spending decisions, such as buying clothes, dining out or going to the movies, using the theory that if these choices are handled wisely then the rest will take care of itself. My Allowance provides you with real-time data when you are about to make those decisions and let's you look at the consequences. ("Am I willing to use money I have earmarked for 'Entertainment' to buy this spiffy new outfit? Or will it instead be coming out of my rent money???")
  
  To accomplish this end:
  
  - My Allowance first helps you define an allowance budget and then, using those budget numbers, provides you with a daily allowance.
  
  - As you define your allowance budget, your virtual Piggy Bank* is automatically seeded with one week's allowance in each category (an amount you can easily change at will).
  
  - Everyday thereafter, one day's allowance is automatically added to each category in your Piggy Bank*.
  
  - My Allowance displays how much can be safely spent in each category on any particular day. Tapping on a category reveals a page for recording a spending transaction which will then be subtracted from that category. And you can easily transfer money between categories, thus helping you to prioritize your spending.
  
  - My Allowance maintains your spending transactions up to 90 days. Thus you can track how much on average you are spending in a particular category (such as gas, groceries or entertainment.) This information can help you modify your budget to more closely fit reality.
  
  - What if you don't know how much you can use as your allowance, considering your income and those funds that are already earmarked for future goals and obligations? My Allowance provides a tool for calculating this, appropriately called the 'Allowance Estimator'.
  
  - My Allowance also provides tools for looking forward, thus encouraging deferred spending (a.k.a. 'saving'). You can provide a particular date to see how much will be available for spending on that date, or provide a particular goal amount to see when that goal will be reached.
  
  While My Allowance was primarily developed for the iPhone and iPod Touch (so you can have it on hand when you are about to spend), My Allowance also runs on the iPad - just bigger.
